How long does it take to create my Baseline?

The FCV Sentinel app requires each user to set what is referred to as a “Baseline”. This is a process where each user teaches the FCV Sentinel app to recognize their unique Forced Cough Vocalization (FCV), otherwise known as an intentional cough. 

To do this, the FCV Sentinel app guides you through a simple process of providing these cough samples. Please refer to the guide below:

FCV Sentinel Baseline Process:
The app requires 30 approved cough samples to set your Baseline. We ask you to cough 6-8 times per sample set, so you'll likely need to complete 4-5 separate Baseline Cough sets to in order to complete your Baseline. Note that after you do 2 sets a minimum 2-hr forced break between samples.

• Step 1: FCV Sentinel will ask you to record your cough sample set with 6-8 coughs in a given set. 
• Step 2: After you've done 2 Baseline Cough Sets, FCV Sentinel will tell you to take a break and come back in 2 hours to record more samples. This is to rest your voice and respiratory system. 
• Step 3: After the 2-hour rest, you may resume providing your Baseline coughs. FCV Sentinel may pause you once again, after 2 more Baseline Cough Sets if you still have not reached 30 approved coughs after 4 Baseline Cough Sets. (Until you reach the 30 approved cough samples, FCV Sentinel will ask you to pause after every 2 Baseline Cough Sets.)
